Minister of Culture and Tourism to Attend Closing Ceremony of Aswan International Arts Festival
Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem, Minister of Culture, Dr. Khaled Anani, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Major General Ashraf Attia, Governor of Aswan, and a number of ambassadors from Arab and foreign countries will attend the closing of the activities of the ninth edition of the “Aswan International Festival for Culture and the Arts”.
The festival will be held on Monday February 21 in front of the Abu Simbel temple to celebrate the perpendicular of the sun on the face of King Ramses II. Then they will move to “The Market Square” in Aswan.
The announcement was made by artist Hisham Atwa, head of the General Authority of Culture Palaces, adding that the festival, which lasted 7 days, showcases its activities in 13 villages and centers in Aswan Governorate.
It was followed by around 15,000 viewers, Egyptians and foreigners.
Atwa said this year’s edition was held in cooperation with; the Foreign Cultural Relations Sector headed by Sabry Saeed, the Artistic House of Popular and Performing Arts headed by Adel Abdo, and the Tourism Promotion Authority headed by Amr El-Qadi and under the supervision of the Central Administration of Artistic Affairs directed by the artist Ahmed Al -Shafi.
In addition, Atwa confirmed that the festival this year saw the participation of 18 Troupes from 7 Arab and foreign countries, namely: “Palestine, Sudan, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Mexico, Poland and Greece”.
Troupes of Egypt included: folk troupes affiliated with the General Authority of Culture Palaces: “Aswan, Sohag, Minya, Port Said, Arish, Sharkia, Hurriya in Alexandria, Matrouh” for folk arts, and spontaneous troupe “Toshka and Shalateen”.
The troupes also included the Rida Folk Troupe and the National Folk Troupe of the Artistic House of Folk and Performing Arts who participated in the event for the first time.
