International Culture Festival will help bring refugee family to Castlegar

Showcasing world cultures will be on the agenda as the Castlegar Refugee Project hosts an international cultural festival on 13 November.

The event will take place at the Castlegar Community Complex from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday.

The event will feature at least 30 information or activity tables from around the world, including Nigeria, Colombia, Palestine, Peru, Doukhobors, Francophones, India, Pakistan, from Guatemala, Israel and Zambia.

There will also be a stage with music and dancing.

Admission is $5 per person, but children under 10 are free.

Some activities and items will have a small cost like henna (Mehendi) or calligraphy.

The event is a fundraiser for the Castlegar Refugee Project sponsorship of a family of four from Myanmar.

The committee hopes to sign sponsorship papers by the end of the year, but must first raise approximately $40,000, as required by the Canadian government.

If you are unable to attend the event, but would still like to support the project, donations in the form of a tax receipt can be made through the Kinnaird Park Community Church by electronic transfer to [email protected] or via -a-family-refugee-in-castlegar.
