Interministerial Committee for the Empowerment of Women will hold a regional conference on Friday | Culture & Society
Ammon News – The Inter-Ministerial Committee for Women’s Empowerment is to organize a regional conference on “Women in Political Parties in the Arab Region” on Friday, under the auspices of Prime Minister Dr. Bisher Khasawneh.
Organized in partnership and cooperation with UN Women and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), this two-day event will bring together ministers, MPs, members of city councils, representatives of foreign embassies in Jordan and a a number of women’s studies and research centres. .
Also participating are women members of the Coalition of Women Parliamentarians from Arab Countries to Combat Violence against Women, as well as experts and politicians from Morocco, Tunisia, Iraq, Algeria, Sudan, Libya, Palestine, Egypt, Bahrain, Lebanon, Norway and the United Kingdom.
The regional conference will see discussions on the role of legislation in creating an enabling environment for women’s participation in partisan life and global success stories in overcoming the challenges women face in partisan and political work.
In addition, the conference is part of the efforts of the Jordanian government, represented by the Inter-Ministerial Committee for the Empowerment of Women, to enhance women’s participation in politics, after approving political parties and laws elections and related constitutional amendments, which would be reflected in “greater” representation of women in parliament in future election cycles.
